This is a fundimental property of matter that exists in two opposite forms, or polarities, which we call Positive and Negative. An electrical field forms around any electric charge. This means that any other charged object will be Attracted, (if the polarties are Opposite), or Repelled, (if the polarities are the Same), for a certain distance. Electric Fields must be distinguished from Magnetic Fields. Like charge, Magnetism is an intrinsic property of matter, which manifests itself in two polarities. There is a whole Universe full of electromagnetic energy, radiation that seems to be both waves in an electrmagnetic field, and particles at the same time. Together, electromagnetic fields and energies interact in many complex ways that have given rise to the Natural World, and the whole technology of Electronics. |
